Jim MaguireJim Maguire – The Journey Home – Creative Writing Workshop
Using Homer’s Odyssey as an inspiration, this workshop will explore how journal writing, stories, and poetry can help us to navigate the voyage of life. The workshop is designed for adults with an interest in developing their writing, from the curious beginner to the experienced practitioner.


Jackie HaydenJackie Hayden – Dylan, Dylan And Me
An informative lecture in which Jackie describes how he discovered Welsh Poet Dylan Thomas via Bob Dylan and The Beatles, and how it led to him writing the book and CD, A Map of Love – about Dylan Thomas.

Billy Roche and Jim Maguire – Readings followed by Q&A

Billy RocheBilly Roche – Beginnings and Endings and the Bits in Between along with the rules of the road for playwriting.

The power of myth and folklore will be examined and explored: first lines and last lines, opening scenes dénouements, plot and characterisation and storyline and dialogue – the tools of the playwright.

4.00PM – 5.30PM EVENT 4

AM CousinsA.M. Cousins –Writing for Radio (limited numbers)

This workshop will be an introduction to writing for radio.  Participants will be given an opportunity to develop their own memoir/life-writing skills with a series of short exercises, followed by group discussion.


Margaret HawkinsMargaret Hawkins – Freelance Journalism From Idea to Ideal Article

Margaret will offer practical advice about idea generation, angle choosing, topic research, interviewee sourcing, article writing and the importance of ‘thinking-reader’ and learning new skills in these competitive times.
