WBTS 2017 Competition Winners - RTE Waterford Seascapes Recording

WRITE BY THE SEA WINNERS ON RTE

The three winners of last year’s Write By The Sea writing competitions have recorded their winning entries for broadcast on RTE Radio 1’s Seascapes programme that airs every Friday night at 10.30 with presenter Fergal Keane.  This is the second year the programme has given invaluable support to the Kilmore Quay festival.

Marie Noonan penned the winning short story, while Mary Kavanagh was victorious in the poetry section for the second time in a row. The nonfiction section was won by Theresa Ryan.  It was a condition of entry that submissions must come from attendees at the festival.

As committee chair Lucy Moore says, “Having their work broadcast nationally is a substantial encouragement for our writers, and our thanks go to Fergal Keane for his generous support.”

Plans are already at an advanced stage for the 3rd Write By The Sea festival in Kilmore Quay in September 2018. Full details will be posted on our website in the near future.
