Margaret O’Brien is Ireland editor of the US based international literary journal, Trasna. Her writing has been published by Arlen House, Southword, RTE/O’Brien Press, Flash Frontier, The Pickled Body, Hinterland, Beir Bua and The Irish Times, among others. Since 2017 she has co-produced numerous cross-disciplinary arts projects in partnership with The Tudor Artisan Hub arts collective, based in Carrick-on-Suir. Her recently published book, Weather Report: a 90-day journal for reflection and well-being is available in independent bookshops and online. Linked to the approach in the journal are her regular posts, ‘Weather Report: On Beauty’, on the Substack platform.

 

Margaret formerly lectured in English and Creative Writing at Waterford Institute of Technology, now SETU. She is an affiliate of Amherst Writers & Artists, based on the principle that ‘writing as an art form belongs to everyone’, and she has curated the annual Brewery Lane Writers’ W/E and the monthly open mic, Poetry Plus, in Brewery Lane Theatre, Carrick-on-Suir for more than a decade. She also runs her own workshops, Writing Changes Lives, both in person and online. Margaret co-founded The Story House Ireland (2014 – 2018) with the aim of having taught residential writing courses accessible to a wide range of participants. www.margaretaobrien.com
