Simon Bourke is an experienced journalist with expertise in all forms of news writing. He currently works with The Wexford People where he specialises in features, opinion and colour with a particular focus on human interest and rural issues. A native of County Kilkenny, Simon graduated with honours in Journalism and New Media from the University of Limerick in 2018 and was shortlisted for National Student Journalist of the Year at the Smedias that same year. He has previously worked for papers in Limerick and Kerry and has been with the People since 2019.
Simon is also the author of And the Birds Kept on Singing’ (2016) which was shortlisted for the best novel at the 2017 Carousel Awards and described by Joseph O’Conner as a “brave and admirably ambitious first novel, full of heart and emotion”.
