Room to Write

Linked to our Write By the Sea festival, Room to Write usually takes place in the Stella Maris Centre, Kilmore Quay on the second Saturday of every month. Write by the Sea is adapting to the challenges posed by Covid-19 and our Room to Write series has become the Zoom Room to Write series online.

In the future, Room to Write will still provide opportunities to writers to write, to consult writing resources, to read, and to connect with other writers. All in a friendly, congenial atmosphere.

Focus on our Resident Facilitator

Fintan Murphy was born in Mayglass, Co Wexford, and has been involved in amateur drama and literary pursuits all his life. His work in the civil and public services took him to various parts of Ireland, before returning to Wexford. His love of his home areas of Forth and Bargy and his time in Co Clare and the Gaeltacht areas of Kerry and Connemara informs much of his writing.

He has had poetry, short stories, articles and humorous pieces published in various newspapers, magazines, journals and anthologies. For the stage he has written award-winning adaptations of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, and of his own short story a Bit of a Break. His first book of poetry Slender Toward the Sky was published in 2006 and was a local best-seller.
