James Finnegan was born in Dublin and now lives in Donegal. He’s had poems published in New Hibernia Review, The Irish Times, Poetry Ireland Review, Cyphers, The Stony Thursday Book, Local Wonders, Skylight 47, The Cormorant and The Honest Ulsterman. He’s been shortlisted for the Hennessy Award, the Wells Poetry Competition and the Fish Poetry Competition, and won first place in North West Words Poetry Competition in 2019. His debut poetry collection, Half-Open Door, was published by Eyewear Publishing in 2018.

His collection, The Weather-Beaten Scarecrow, will be published autumn 2022 by Doire Press.

James has read at Listowel Writers’ Week, Over the Edge, North West Words, Ó Bhéal, as well as at events in Dundalk, Limerick and London.
