Write By The Sea 2016

Write By The Sea, a festival of writing and reading will take place for the first time in Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford from September 23rd to September 25th, 2016. The theme for the 2016 festival is The Sea, and the inaugural festival will officially open with a reception on September 23rd sponsored by The Saltees Fish Company.

The Write By The Sea Festival will focus on established Wexford authors delivering a stimulating and entertaining programme of workshops, readings, conversation, and interviews, with an emphasis on learning how to write. The festival is intended to become a key annual event with local, national and international relevance. It will include a special writing competition based on the festival’s theme, and the RTE Radio1 programme Seascapes have agreed to broadcast the winning entry.

Kilmore Quay is already recognised as an inspirational location for creative people across all Arts genres, and Write By The Sea is intended to reinforce and develop that. The festival will appeal to beginners, young and old, as well as experienced writers. Keen readers will also have the opportunity to meet and listen to authors talk about their work.

A full programme schedule for Write By The Sea will be published in the coming weeks and it will feature contributors willing to share their invaluable experience and knowledge of several genres of novel writing, screenwriting, biography, playwriting, journalism, and poetry.

Write By The Sea is kindly supported by Wexford County Council.
