In keeping with Kilmore Quay’s maritime location and traditions, the general competition theme is ‘Waves’ and all entries must relate to this theme.  There are three competition categories: 1. The independent panel of judges will select one winner in each category and one of the three category winners will be selected as the overall winner.  Each category winner will be invited to read their winning entry at our gala WBTS Festival Opening Reception which takes place on Friday 25 September 2020. The Writing Competition prizes will be awarded at the event.

All three winners will receive a beautiful hand-crafted WBTS 2020 Writing Competition trophy and all three winning pieces will be published on the Write By The Sea website.  Each category winner will also receive a festival weekend-pass (worth €110), granting free entry to the various workshops, talks, interviews and other weekend events.
